Monmouthshire Stone
Monmouthshire Stone is a working Delph Quarry, a small family run business situated in the heart of Monmouthshire South Wales, situated between Abergavenny and Monmouth. The quarry had been redundant for hundreds of years until Matthew and Maria had the Delph reinstated to supply Welsh Stone for building projects. The Delph now produces excellent quality ‘Devonian Old Red Sandstone’ which has beautiful colour variations ranging from greeny/grey to a purple tinge.
During the process of starting up the business Matthew was unfortunate enough to have a serious accident which involved him breaking his neck and sustaining other injuries. The recovery physically and mentally has been a very long and slow process, but Matthew was lucky to have a loyal team of friends, family and colleques behind him. This enables Matthew to oversee all orders leave his yard, are to a very high standard and actually what the clients specified. The majority of our Monmouthshire Stone customers are builders, landscape gardeners and local home owners, people want quality locally sourced materials when building or improving their homes ensuring the charter of their property is retained, at a price to suit all clients. Purchasing Building Stone and Flagstones can prove quite daunting but we pride ourselves on our good old fashioned personal service. Weather you are purchasing 1 ton of stone, 2 Flagstones or 500 ton of stone or 500 sqm of flagstones we treat each order as an individual, thus ensuring customer satisfaction.
A selection of our flagstones can be viewed at Red Castle Nurseries, Cross Ash, (B4521) between 10am-4pm. (Although we feel we do not have the need for a glossy show room).
